Erin is highly experienced in treating traumatic experiences. From a single trauma you’ve experienced yourself, to something you’ve seen or heard happen to someone else; Trauma is trauma and it needs to be treated.
Complex PTSD
Repeated trauma, or a lifetime of it, especially from your family of origin, needs a different treatment approach. Repeated trauma can have life long consequences
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing has been shown to be a highly effective treatment for a variety of challenges. Trauma, but also preparation for stressful events, strengthening your sense of self, and more.
Intellectual Disabilities
Erin began her career working with people with intellectual disabilities. It’s a personal passion. Her specialities combined make her a rare specialist in treating trauma in those with intellectual disabilities.
Geriatrics
Erin knows the difficulties that life transitions can bring, for her clients and for their families. She has worked in long term care Facilities for 11 years. She excel’s at treating challenges that end of life can bring. She has often helped families Navigate nursing home operations and Bureaucracy.
Grief, Loss, and Traumatic Brain Injury
Death isn’t the only cause of grief. erin has treated families whose loved ones have Experienced a TBI, or brain damage due to stroke or overdose. grief and Trauma often combine to form what is sometimes called Traumatic or complex grief. Erin focuses on family resources, mental health and Resiliency at all times.
Online Counseling, Telehealth, Virtual Counseling. Is it all the same?
Pretty much. The difference is the counselor, and how much they know about adapting traditional, in office techniques to the camera. Complex therapies (such as EMDR) take particular skill to do online.
Helpful Virtual Counseling only offers therapies online. We have no office, or in-person sessions. This is a perfect fit for some clients, and not great fit for others. You can read more about that here.
